Who are We?
Intro
PSHS 1965 to1970: A mark we would not hesitate to have tattooed on our biceps or chests, if we were adolescents again. But better than that, we have written it in our hearts – not like metal on stone but like a love letter on perfumed paper, for we know how to cherish the innocent, romantic past (or is it the “wild and free 60’s”) and to relive or simply revisit it like, we want to think, no other batch can.
Five grand years of togetherness! Five years of learning and frolicking (not necessarily in that order)! But that is the past; endearing as they may be to many of us, we seek for more.
Comes Pisay Dos: The other half of the story. The continuing present. More endearing, more involved, with more wisdom and more inspiration, more meaning and a greater desire to reach out to others who can share our goals and – our idiosyncrasies.
What comes after we hope to discover and share with those who dare to walk the path to a new and more interesting life.
Background
Pisay Dos, as we call ourselves – Batch 2 of Philippine Science High School – is a veritable melting pot of various regional and cultural colors. From the seas and plains of Mindanao and the Visayas to the hills and plateaus of the Cordilleras, we converged to form a delightful mixture of nerdy, meditative, fun-loving and even thrill-seeking individuals. How else would you describe a class that has produced scientists, doctors, lawyers, engineers, academicians, businesspeople, programmers, managers, church leaders, writers, technocrats and generals?
Tagalog, Cebuano, Waray, Hiligaynon, Ilonggo, Bicolano, Ibaloy, Pangasinense, Kapampangan or Ilocano, we have it. Of course, many have chosen to live abroad but this has not prevented us from uniting and making one last chance at tying the golden bond of friendship more tightly.
Our Vision
Our more than five years together in high school and college plus almost two decades of renewed energy as a batch, has made us more than a barkada or a clique. As we move forward, we hope to showcase what Filipinos of different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, interests and even world-views can do as a cohesive group. Not only to have some fun together but to make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Thus, “working together, living together”, as the Bacharach song goes, we strive to keep alive in our hearts the fervent PSHS flame and to march on “…in our path through the world, in our fight for the right, in pursuit of the glorious thee.”
We are Pisay Dos!
